GHOSTLY INTERNATIONAL + [ADULT SWIM] = GHOSTLY SWIM
Something wicked this way comes. Record label, Ghostly International and modern cult classic programmers [Adult Swim] have paired for a compilation of new music and art. All the material is free, new and up as high quality downloads.
A genre-busting 19-song collection, stretching the entire Ghostly International galaxy, Ghostly Swim explores the Avant-Pop style that the Ann Arbor/New York City label has been been championing for the past 9 years. Ghostly Swim features artists like Matthew Dear, Dabrye, Tycho and Aeroc and features new signings like UK cult band The Chap and NYC producer Michna.
The free collection also includes favorite friends of the label like School Of Seven Bells, and Detroit’s Deastro, Milosh (Plug Research), FLYamSAM (Warp’s Flying Lotus and SAMIYAM), and Dark Party (Eliot Lipp and Leo123). Along with the new music, BoyCatBird (Ghostly’s mascots) make their animated debut in the awesome “City Suckers” video by Daniel Garcia/Superfi.

SPECTRAL SOUND colab. WITH DESIGNERS WEWORKFORTHEM
Spectral Sound, Dancefloor counterpart label of Ghostly International, has teamed up with design legend Mike Cina of WeWorkForThem and TrueIsTrue to deliver a body of elegant and considered artwork for the label's new releases.
Cina and Ghostly founder Sam Valenti IV have long considered working together and after many packages of records and books traded hands, the two companies have created something striking.
Cina describes the collaboration as "perfect timing." "I met Sam in the early 2000's. He contacted me about some work I was doing." "Late last year, I was wanting to work on some personal-type work and it happened to be what direction Ghostly was going in. WeWorkForThem also was doing some stuff that needed the type of sound that Ghostly/Spectral is perfecting, seems like a perfect match for me."
Valenti agrees. "Collaborating with Mike was something we wanted to do for quite sometime, after seeing some of the projects he had been working on, it forced our hand."
The 12" sleeves represent both a neo-classical and abstract beauty and document a new era for the Ann Arbor based label. The 3 covers represent a new breed of Spectral talent including Kate Simko, Sami Koivikko and Cologne-based duo, Daso & Pawas. Ghostly will be offering a limited edition of prints of each cover on their online boutique The Ghostly Store as well as t-shirts by YouWorkForThem.
"Spectral is stepping into it's eigth year which looks to be it's best both musically and visually. We are proud to deliver these works and hope our fans appreciate them as much as we do." Valenti says.
Spectral Sound and Playhouse will team up for Germany Tour
Playhouse vs. Spectral Sound:

This smells like conspiracy.
Musical borders morphed together. It´s not the question anymore who inspired, who influenced whome. It all happened on the Axis of techno, house & disco music from Detroit to Germany, back and forth. It´s a street which is busy for more than 25 years now. What can be ensured is honest, unique and concrete dancemusic and a sweaty dancefloor. That´s what simply each label and every single artist have to offer.
This is the invitation to explore the sound of class 2008!
"We are tremendously excited to be working with an institution like Playhouse. I can still recall hearing artists like Isolee, Alter Ego and Losoul for the first time and Rework's "Loin De Moi" was the theme hit of Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott's weekly party in Ann Arbor for three years. The music of Playhouse has distinct character and seamlessly blends house, techno and disco in a tasteful way that we attempt as well. We believe the combination of our artists will yield some amazing parties."
Sam Valenti ( Spectrals Sound )
“We’ve all been big fans of Ghostly and Spectral from day one. It’s great when unique and visionary music comes in a great package with tasty artwork. The fantastic Ghostly logo was always standing out of the other records around and it was always keeping promises in quality for everything recorded under that imprint.
When we met for the first time and found out that we seem to inspire each other musicwise on both ends it was an obvious concequence that we should join forces one day and team up for some good parties together.
Be a witness when we are slammin the floors together for the first time in history."
Heiko MSO ( Playhouse )
